School Safety During the Covid-19 Pandemic

A year ago today, we would never have imagined that many children would be taught over Zoom calls with parents where they would be trying to balance study, chores, and home-schooling. In recent times, living amidst a pandemic has become the new norm. With measures like social distancing, mask-wearing, and contact tracing, this has all become a part of our daily lives. However, schools will soon reopen and when that time comes, it’s essential that educational systems are prepared to ensure that  children can return to school safely.

Here’s what you'll need to make sure your school is safe to return to during the pandemic:

1. Encourage Handwashing

By now children should be practicing frequent handwashing throughout the day. To keep your school safe, you should explain to students why it's important for students to wash their hands - especially before and after eating, coughing, and sneezing. As well as washing their hands with soap and water, it's important that you provide hand sanitizing stations at different locations throughout the school, and ensure children are supervised by an adult whenever they use hand-sanitizer.

2. Face Masks

Wearing masks can help prevent the virus from spreading to others, so it's important to encourage students to wear face masks if they can. To allow children to safely go back to school, schools should make sure they provide face masks for all students, teachers, staff and visitors. Be sure to follow the CDC guidelines for wearing masks in schools.

3. Cleaning & Disinfecting

All schools should follow CDC guidelines on how to properly disinfect and sanitize classrooms, bathrooms, and common areas to help reduce the spread of germs and keep your school clean throughout the day. There are many types of disinfectant products that can be used, like our antibacterial pen.

4.Social Distancing

Social distancing will be at the heart of how schools operate over the upcoming weeks and months. With schools, it is time to think about how you can implement safe social distancing measures to make sure that your students, staff, and visitors all remain safe.
